SBox Recommends: Wonder Woman (Movie Review)

Note: SBR never spoils. You are safe. Enjoy!

Welcome back to SBox Recommends, where I see a movie, review it, and then find out if this movie is right for you!

If there was any series in Hollywood that deserves a break, it’s the DCEU. The closest equivalent to Disney’s MCU, the young series has yet to prove itself as a viable competitor to the Marvel brand. Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Suicide Squad were unable to find unanimous praise with critics and audiences, and only one of them can really be defined as not a financial disappointment. This made 2017 an incredibly important year for the DCEU, as it may be its last chance to dazzle audience with its two offerings. Each is as important as the other, but only one of them has the misfortune of being first. And so comes the million dollar question: Can Wonder Woman save the DCEU? SBox Recommends: Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 (Movie Review)

Note: SBR never spoils. You are safe. Enjoy!

First thing’s first. Since we’re talking about Guardians of the Galaxy, I’d like to quickly divert your attention to this post I made all the way back in 2014… I never did make that review, which was a huge regret of mine for years now. So, in a weird way I’m really glad I get to at least fulfill that old promise by reviewing its brother 3 years later.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that I was extremely excited for this movie. Not only is this the sequel to one of my favorite movies of the past decade, but this film also marks one measly year until our favorite Bunch of Jackasses finally meet Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers 3. But I’m getting ahead of myself. I’ve been so invested in the trailers and news surrounding the film; my mind racing with what this film would be about and how it’ll try to match the surprise hit that was the first Guardians of the Galaxy. Did it succeed in doing that, or did it just fall short of greatness? Only one way to find out. Continue reading SBox Recommends: Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 (Movie Review)

SBox Analyzes: The Flash Season 3 Predictions

flash-season-3-flashpoint-broken

Early this year during my winter break, I decided to finally take the plunge and delve into the DC Television Universe. I was putting it off for a while at the time as something I’d get to eventually, but one day boredom preceded me enough to put my procrastination aside. I took to Netflix that day to find a full season of The Flash waiting for me. Roughly three days later I emerged victorious, adding one more show to my watchlist. That was one hell for a binging session, one I’d recommend wholeheartedly to anyone who has a bit of time and a love of lighthearted, comedic action shows with somewhat of a villain of the week format. You won’t regret it.

As of right now we’re less than a weeks removed from the show’s prominent return with Season 3. Season 2 proved to be a great adventure in multidimensional awesomeness. It brought a ton of surprises and twists our way, introduced us to many new characters (as well as new versions of preexisting ones), and ultimately put the show’s core story in one hell of an interesting spot towards the end. Of course most people already know of Season 2’s jaw-dropping cliffhanger simply by the show’s title. If you somehow aren’t and plan to become a member of S.T.A.R. labs in the near or distant future, then make like the Flash and zoom out of here quickly, because this post will contain spoilers for Season 1 and 2. SBox Recommends: Captain America – Civil War (Movie Review)

It’s strange how far we have come in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Can you believe we have reached the point where we’re talking about the final Captain America movie? So strange. Though I have to admit, this particular Captain America movie goes a bit beyond being just a Captain America movie. This is the rising action of the Marvel story arc; the point where we’re no longer setting up the world and are now introducing the conflict. And what better way to introduce that conflict than with war? Continue reading SBox Recommends: Captain America – Civil War (Movie Review)

My 2014 Movies: Big Hero 6 (#10)

I always look forward to the next in-house Disney animated film. They never really disappoint me. Even when they are lackluster they still have that charm that keeps you from hating it entirely. That’s because when they succeed, it’s definitely something to behold. With that said, I associate the cutoff date’s extension due in part to the opportunity to watch Big Hero 6. It didn’t feel right not talking about it when I could, so here’s what I thought about Disney’s newest outing. Continue reading My 2014 Movies: Big Hero 6 (#10)
