SBox Soapbox: Predicting the Nintendo Switch’s Games (S-Z)

partners-png

For those joining in for the first time, this is a continuation of a previous post where I run through Nintendo’s list of third-party developers and predict which games they will either develop or port to the upcoming Nintendo Switch. If you’d like to start from the beginning or are looking for a specific developer that on the list, please refer to the bottom of this post for links. Otherwise, welcome back!

My apologies for the final part taking much longer than the other parts. College decided to take over my life this week. Though after all the hard work, tears, and bloodshed (mostly bloodshed), I have returned to finish what I’ve started. We’ve already covered 29 of the companies on the list, which leads us to the final 8 developers: Starbreeze Studios through Warner Bros Interactive. We are about half-way through the list discussing everyone from 505 Games through Konami plus the addition of DeNA and Epic Games. Remember, I’m not covering the last two rows fully. So, today I’ll be covering the next 9 developers on the list in one of the most fun parts of this series of posts, all letters L through S. And for clarity sake, I’ll cover Starbreeze in the next part for the sake of time. Continue reading SBox Soapbox: Predicting the Nintendo Switch’s Games (L-S)

In Part 1 we covered from 505 Games all the way to Codemasters and also included DeNA. That means we’re about a quarter through the list. This time we’ll cover the next 11 companies ranging from letters E through K. Remember, I’m totally skipping the bottom two rows with the exception of DeNA and Epic Games, and I’ll be discussing Epic Games in this part. SBox Soapbox: Nintendo at E3 2016 | Was it a Good Idea?

large

As many of you probably already know, Nintendo took a different route to E3 this year. Not only have they opted out of a traditional live press conference, but they even opted out of their newest tradition of a Nintendo Direct presentation. Instead, they stuck to their other recent, albeit less popular, E3 tradition of a two day live Treehouse event. The first day of the event was about 25% Pokemon and 75% Zelda. The second day was a little mix of everything, mostly things we already knew about, though. The presentation clocked in at about 10 hours for both days. They also had a booth on the showfloor, where the attendees were able to play all one of Nintendo’s upcoming games.

This decision was rather polarizing when it was announced last month. Some called it cool, more people called it stupid, but most people would prefer the word “odd”. Honestly, it’s something only Nintendo would do, but why do it? What were they thinking? Was this whole approach even a good idea? This year, instead of doing a recap post like I did for Microsoft and Sony this year, I’d like to spend some time discussing Nintendo’s E3 2016 performance, analyzing the show’s concept and execution rather than the actual contents of the show. Hopefully then we can gain an understanding of Nintendo’s thought process this year. Continue reading SBox Soapbox: Nintendo at E3 2016 | Was it a Good Idea?

Farewell Satoru Iwata

Yesterday was an emotional roller coaster for me. In a matter of one hour, I went from celebrating the 1 year anniversary of my blog to having my mouth drop at what my now wide eyes saw on Instagram. By now you must know. Some woke up this morning to the news, some had digested the information overnight, and maybe there are some reading this who still don’t know. (I doubt the last part, but who knows). Whatever the case, yesterday was a shocking and sad day.

Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo for 13 years, has died as a result of health issues. This occurred Saturday with the statement being issued by Nintendo Sunday night. He was 55 years old. Continue reading Farewell Satoru Iwata

Watch: “Rumor: Nintendo NX Will Be Less Powerful Than PS4”

I’ll be on a vacation to Disney World this weekend. I want to get a post up before I go, and I figured I’d discuss the Nintendo NX. Hopefully I can make it happen this week or next week. Until then, enjoy this video.

I also have a post planned for the one year anniversary of this blog. I have an idea of what I want to do, and hope to get it posted Sunday. If not, expect it later next week.

I’m SBox180. Thanks for reading!
