Yesterday I was completely blind sighted by the teaser for The Avengers Project. It’s been less than 48 hours since I saw the less than one minute trailer, and yet my mind is still racing in regards of what this game will be. It’s funny what the mind can do with so little information isn’t it, but Square-Enix’s name alone is enough to make me hyped. After all, any opportunity to literally be an Avenger is one I’ll gladly take.
Currently there’s not a lot of information for me to cover or interpret. Perhaps at a future date I’ll make an Analysis of the trailer or something like that, but right now all I can do is make somewhat wild guesses as to what it’ll be. Though you know what Square-Enix game I can talk a bit about? Kingdom Hears III. Continue reading SBox Quickie: Marvel’s Kingdom Hearts Chances May Have Risen
If you were to ask me how 2016 stacked up to previous years in terms of films, I’d probably define it as “underwhelming”. It was an odd year for big budget movies, where most of the year’s most anticipated films ended up disappointing audiences, as was the case with Batman v Superman, Ghostbusters, Independence Day 2 and Jason Bourne among others. Meanwhile, the best films of the year existed below the surface, often raking in middling returns and going unnoticed — such is the fate of The Nice Guys and Kubo and the Two Strings. I enjoyed a lot of films in 2016 (as you’ll see in the 2016 Movie Countdown), but for what it’s worth, I’m hoping 2017 is a lot better.
As is tradition here on The Ranting SBox, I start every year with a list of my most anticipated films of the new year. Continue reading SBox Soapbox: My Most Anticipated Movies of 2017
It is with great pleasure that I welcome each and every one of you to the fresh new year of 2017! I hope you all had an excellent New Year’s celebration last night and that you’re starting your year off right. I wouldn’t know. See, I figured I’d be spending my New Year’s Day sleeping in past noon and in a constant state of sloth (as is tradition). That’s why this post is coming to you live from the year 2016. Let’s ring in the New Year the right way by going over all of the things we have to look forward to in 2017, starting with gaming. Continue reading SBox Soapbox: My Most Anticipated Games of 2017
It broke my heart back in July when I heard that the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer was being shown for attendees of San Diego Comic Con, and I wasn’t able to see it. (Damn you SDCC exclusives)! Keep in mind that I’m a huge fan of both Spider-Man and the MCU, so I couldn’t wait to see how Sony and Marvel planned on taking the web-slinger now that he’s been officially inducted into the MCU. I along with everyone who saw Captain America: Civil War fell in love with how he was portrayed in that film, but can this new Spidey stand on his own as a contributing member of the universe? Continue reading My Quick Thoughts on Spider-Man Homecoming Trailer #1 (& Brief Guardians Thoughts)
San Diego Comic Con 2016, the ultimate all-around geek convention, has now come to an end. And what a glorious time it was. While I was unable to attend the actual convention, I was still able to enjoy the show from the comfort of my own evil lair, watching trailer after trailer as they came out along the way. There’s always so much at every SDCC to enjoy whether you consider yourself a geek or not. So much so that I’d like to talk about a couple of the trailers that stuck out to me the most. Continue reading My Thoughts on the Comic Con 2016 Trailers & Footage
Note: SBR never spoils. You are safe. Enjoy!
It’s strange how far we have come in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Can you believe we have reached the point where we’re talking about the final Captain America movie? So strange. Though I have to admit, this particular Captain America movie goes a bit beyond being just a Captain America movie. This is the rising action of the Marvel story arc; the point where we’re no longer setting up the world and are now introducing the conflict. And what better way to introduce that conflict than with war? Continue reading SBox Recommends: Captain America – Civil War (Movie Review)
Every year, including this one, my most anticipated film is always a Marvel film. Lord knows my family and I were super pumped for Avengers 2 considering Marvel’s cinematic winning streak since 2008. We couldn’t wait for this film. We even assigned each other Marvel character T-shirts for the occasion of watching the movie opening weekend. (I wore the Ultron short). And thank God this movie turned out to be just as awesome as we wanted it. Continue reading My 2015 Movies: Avengers – Age of Ultron (#6)
Probably my most anticipated film of 2016, Captain America: Civil War just keeps looking better and better. As an avid Marvel movie fan, I am always looking forward to the next big Marvel outing. This is especially true in this case as everything is clearly starting to turn ugly in the MCU. You know things are going down when everyone, and I mean everyone, is coming to kick ass and take names. And that’s solidified with this final trailer for Civil War. Continue reading My Quick Thoughts on Captain America: Civil War Trailer 2
Ant-Man, that superhero most people knew existed, but only knew him because the concept sounds incredibly stupid. He was the character everyone including some comic fans made fun of for obvious reasons, and by far the oddest candidate for a standalone Marvel film. Yeah we all laughed about it even up to opening day while in the face of all the positive buzz. But deep down we all knew we were going to see it. If Marvel could sell us on talking raccoons and trees the previous year, we had to see how they would sell us on Ant-Man. Continue reading My 2015 Movies: Ant-Man (#13)
I can’t believe it’s time to leave 2015 officially behind. Hard to believe that last year I didn’t see Avengers 2 or Star Wars Episode VII. I can’t believe there was a time I was looking forward to Fantastic Four. Anyway, as is customary at the beginning of a new year, let’s take some time to look toward the future.
Here’s a list of movies I’m looking forward to seeing in the next 12 months of life. Continue reading My Most Anticipated Movies of 2016
