Mini-Update (4/30/17): Summer is Coming… & Whatnot

Greetings peeps!

I’m coming to you live from my bed as I have just woken up 20 minutes ago. I’m happy as hell right now, because this is the first time in 2 weeks that I slept in. Yes, since Easter break, there was always something I have to do whether it was college classes or volunteer work. Not today though. I closed my eyes at 3 AM like a real man and rose a champion who sits in bed for 30 minutes and counting doing nothing productive. Why? Because I can… for now at least. After all, it is finals week.

Since I’ve been kinda silent for large portions of the month, and probably won’t get to posting before Friday or so, I thought I’d let you guys know what I’ll be working on as soon as I’m able. I want to make summer a time of consistent posting since I’ll have very little to do. Continue reading Mini-Update (4/30/17): Summer is Coming… & Whatnot

Mini-Update (1/2/17): The Ranting SBox Is Expanding!

Greetings peeps!

Today I’d like to inform you of a very exciting and important change I’m making to the blog. As part of my big push for expanding The Ranting SBox to a whole new audience, I have decided to take the plunge on something I’ve been considering for a long time. In the past year I’ve received a few invites to write for various divisions of Creators.co. I initially turned all of them down as to not compromise what I have here on WordPress, but in the midst of a more recent invitation I was informed of a way to exist on both platforms. After a ton of consideration, I decided to finally take the plunge during the New Year.

Indeed, I am now a member of Creators.co. For those unfamiliar with that site, it is the central blogging platform for several specialized blogging sites, including Moviepilot (for movies and TV), Nowloading (for video games) and Champions (for sports). How it works is that all content is published directly on Creators.co (where content of any kind is posted), and eventually select articles are shared through the appropriate branch. It’s an interesting system, one I’ll be trying out throughout the year to see how it fits.

Now before you click off this post and unfollow, don’t worry. I’m not going anywhere. The reason this decision took as long as long as it did and I initially rejected the idea was because I was afraid of leaving what I have here. I’ve spent two and a half years building this blog, meeting awesome people, and reading awesome content. The Ranting SBox is my home, and I refuse to throw it all away. So, believe me when I tell you that bringing content to you guys here on WordPress is my top priority. This is an expansion and not a move. All this means is that I’ll be sharing content between here and Creators.co.

You might be asking how the whole “sharing” thing will work, and that’s the big reason for this update. As I said, WordPress is currently my top priority in terms of content. Creators.co is a new space, and until I get a feel for it the distribution of content will favor WordPress for the time being. I currently have both my anticipated posts up on Creators.co, with every other post this week set to be published simultaneously on both platforms. Starting next week (1/8), every post I make will be published here on WordPress first and to Creators.co the next day. This may change in the future, but it should be good enough for now. It also means that those who follow me on WordPress will have a day’s head start on content.

It should also be noted that select past articles on this blog may be republished to Creators.co over time. I’ll preface those articles by stating that this post was originally posted here to avoid confusion. As of right now I have no intention of creating original content on Creators.co, and aside from a tweak here and there for translation purposes, there are no differences between a post made here and one made on Creators.co.

That’s basically all I have for now. Like I said, I’m not leaving this blog. I’m only sharing content that I originally posted here to a second site. Thanks for your understanding and for sticking around. Hope you enjoy everything I have planned for 2017.

I’m SBox180. Thanks for reading!

Mini-Update (12/31/16): Happy New Year from The Ranting SBox!

Greetings peeps!

As you may have guessed, this will be my final blog post of the year. As I write this we are less than 3 hours away from 2017 on the East Coast. I promised you guys to get at least one more blog post before the new year. I decided to hold off on that post so that I have more content for you guys in 2017. Until then, I wanted to take a little time to say thank you.

The world may have been a scary and hectic place in 2016, but at least the same can’t be said for this blog. In 2016, I was able to post 93 times (including this post), all of which were viewed 1,299 times by 706 different people across 60 countries around the world and liked 165 times. This year was also significant for marking over two years since I’ve started this blog and that I have finally reached the milestone of 100 WordPress followers. Most of all I had a ton of fun doing, and I can’t thank you guys enough for supporting my little slice of the Internet. I may do this mostly for fun, but it’s always touching to know that someone out there is listening to what I have to say. You guys make this whole adventure worth it.

I plan on making 2017 a bigger and better year for the blog. I have a ton of ideas for new posts as well as things I’ve been promising for a while all coming in the next 365 days on this blog. January in particular will have a ton of posts coming you guys’ way. And for those who’ve been with me for a while, don’t worry. I have plans on covering much more than just the movie countdown… That’s right, keep your ear to the ground this coming week, because the 2016 Movie Countdown is coming your way. More on that in a couple days.

For now, I hope you guys are enjoying your New Years Eve and will have a ton of awesome luck in 2017. Thank you guys for making this otherwise screwed up year worth stomaching. I know 2016 was a tough year to get through, but as we say goodbye to this crazy year, I have a song to go with this evening. A song that I heard the other day I thought was the perfect way to usher in the New Year. If 2016 was a tough year for you, I hope this song by Eminem and Sia touches you. It’s a song about not worrying about what happened yesterday, because today’s a new day. More than that, today is going to be gone tomorrow.

Mini-Update: TV Round-Up Post Coming Soon!

So I just realized all my shows are official on break. Some come back next month. Others won’t be back until March. It was a pretty solid half-season all around, though, and I’m ready to give you guys my thoughts on all the shows I’ve watched this Fall: The Big Bang Theory, Supernatural, Empire, The Flash, and Supergirl.
In the meantime, this song from the Empire finale has been stuck in my head all day. I thought I’d share it with you guys while I get to writing. Happy listening!

SBox Analyzes: “Bohemian Rhapsody” (Upcoming Freddie Mercury movie)

Today marks a shocking 25 years since Freddie Mercury, lead singer of Queen, passed away at the age of 45. It’s deeply saddening to think about, but on this (ironic) Thanksgiving Day it’s important to think about the legacy Mercury was able to leave behind during his short 20 year career. A quarter-century later, listeners young and old still hear Freddie’s voice, whether it’s radio stations playing “Another One Bites the Dust”, sports stadiums playing “We Are the Champions, parties playing “We Will Rock You”, or movies playing “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Scholars still mark Freddie as one of the best singers of all-time as well as the best frontman in rock history. And if all goes well, his legacy may also be encapsulated by the next big biopic movie.

In honor of Freddie’s death, I’ve decided to resurrect a post I’ve been meaning to make for over two years. At the same time, this post will mark the return of a segment I haven’t done in well over a year, but have missed doing. Luckily for me, this subject has managed to remain relevant two years later as we’re still wondering what will become of this movie. Welcome back to SBox Analyzes where we’ll be discussing the yet to be released Freddie Mercury biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody. We’ll round up all the rumors and facts we know about the project and use it to predict how the final product will turn out. The things we don’t know, we’ll simply predict. Mini-Update: Nintendo Switch Posts Coming Soon!

Greetings peeps!

Just wanted to give you all a heads up on an upcoming series of posts I have in the works. As the title suggests, the subject will once again be the Nintendo Switch. I’ve already done a reaction to the trailer recently, but there’s still a lot more to discuss about the system. I’ve been really interested in what the system will end up being, and thought of an idea regarding the system’s potential launch line-up. So, I started writing something up with hopes of posting it around Monday, but it turned out to be a more comprehensive project than expected. That’s why I’m going to be releasing it in 4 parts.

The posts will go through each developer on Nintendo’s list in alphabetical order, while I give my predictions as to what games each developer may bring to the Switch. I’ve already completed Part 1 and am almost done Part 2. I’ll try to get these done as soon as possible, so I can release all 4 parts in one day. That way I can make sure I’m 100% going to finish it before I post a single post about it. The last thing I need is another series of posts I chose not to finish.

My hope is that it will be released around Saturday, and I’ll probably post them an hour or so apart from each other. I can’t wait to share this with you guys, ebacsue I’m having a lot of fun with it so far.

Mini-Update (9/3/16): TV Predictions, College & Whatnot

Greetings peeps!

I wanted to take a moment to discuss the current state of this blog as well as to inform you of what I have planned for the next month or so. It feels like I’ve been gone for a month- it always does- even though it’s only been a couple weeks. I’ve been thinking things over, and I feel that it’s for the best that I talk just briefly about what’s been going on. Continue reading Mini-Update (9/3/16): TV Predictions, College & Whatnot

Mini-Update (7/14/16): Thank You! (The Ranting SBox’s 2 Year Anniversary)

Blog logo

Greetings peeps!

Today is July 14, 2016, a day above any other at least for me. As of today, I have been blogging with WordPress for two whole years. Holy shit! I guess my blog isn’t as new as I thought, at least not anymore. Had this blog been a baby, it would be walking and talking by now, pointing at crap, and apparently starting to grow molars. My blog has molars! I’m the happiest blogger alive! Continue reading Mini-Update (7/14/16): Thank You! (The Ranting SBox’s 2 Year Anniversary)
