The Greatest Poem Ever Written

Roses are red, Violets are blue,

This is my poem… Um… A-Choo!

I’m not good at poetry, I have to admit,

Prepare yourselves now, because my rhymes be shit.

You may wonder why, in heaven or high-hell,

I’d try my hand at this, I must not be well.

Alas, think that not, let me tell you,

Because this has a purpose, and only the last part was true.

(To be honest I’m quite coo-coo).

This terrible poem, it’s for someone I know,

Who does this much better than I, that’s for sho.

This person is awesome, and today she turns 20,

If these bars become sickening, take an aspirin, I got plenty.

Nearly 2 years ago, that’s when we first met,

That’s a whole lot of time, even in Tibet.

Since then you’ve always been there, and that’s no lie,

Being all funny and sweet like apple pie.

Whether surviving college or playing Pokémon Go,

I could always count on you, like my trusty elbow.

And you’re the only person I know who can make Goodwill fun,

Lettuce, Cheese, Tomato, Pickles and Bun.

(Come to think of it, I should’ve just rhymed that with Rogue One).

Before you ask, I have no clue what any of this means,

Clearly I’m hopeless at this, with a side of beans.

For the rest of this poem I’ll just say random stuff,

Bicycles, toucans and Jigglypuffs.

Ponies and unicorns, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1,

Yaddy-yaddy-yadda, okay I think I’m done.

I’ll end this now, I’ve survived the trial,

I hope through all of this, I at least made you smile.

(Cause you’ve done the same for me all the while).

Don’t worry everyone! This will be my first and last poem ever made. I think I’ve put the world through enough. Here’s wishing the wonderful Gabrielle Gillispie a Happy Birthday! Go check out her blog when you get a chance, especially if you need to remind yourself of what good poetry looks like. I know I set the bar pretty high just now, but trust me. She’s much better.

As a little reward for those who suffered through this willingly, my next post will probably be Marvel-based. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to conduct my sonnet. Here’s a preview: “Alas, sweet SBox. Where be thy pride now?”

I’m SBox180. Thanks for reading!

  1. “happy birthday I’m sorry” was just the icing on the cake. This is more than likely the best birthday present I’ve ever gotten. You wrote a freaking poem for me!!! And a hilarious one at that (I hope you don’t mind that I shared it with my family, because more people needed to laugh and “awww” at this work of art). Seriously I can’t even express how grateful I am or how much I enjoyed this!!! Thank you, I’m going to go cry now

This is better than any birthday post I planned on making. Please read what my dear friend Steven wrote for me today. Seriously, I cried half from how funny it is and half from how sweet it is. This is the best birthday present ever. Excuse me while I go read it to everyone I know
